🎬 Hedy Lamarr Prize for Best Kill

Hedy Lamarr

Hedy Lamarr (1914–2000) was an Austrian-born actress and inventor. While celebrated as a glamorous Hollywood film star of the 1930s and 1940s, she also co-developed a revolutionary frequency-hopping communication system with composer George Antheil during World War II. Designed to prevent enemy interception of radio-guided torpedoes, their invention laid the groundwork for modern wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Despite her scientific achievements being overlooked for decades, Lamarr is now recognized as a true pioneering innovator whose work changed the technological landscape.
